Ty got started in cycling in 2004 when he went on a mountain bike ride with his brothers and dad. After riding for sometime, he decided to do a race and has been hooked ever since. After dominating the mountain bike circuit with his friends, he decided to make the switch to road racing in 2006. In 2007 and 2008 he was pro 1/2 state crit champion, as well as state road race champion in 2008. After placing 4^th at nationals, he raced with the National Team and  Hincapie Development for two seasons. Ty then moved to Athens for school, and has found a place for 2010, with brother Casey, on Locos.
