Young Ty Does the Dirt at Twilight!

Ty Magner made the winning break last night at the Athens Twilight. A select group of 6 rolled off the front of a cold and rainy race. Ty was hanging tough all night despite the high speeds and dangerous conditions. Menzies took the win with a last lap attack, and Ty sprinted in for a 5th place at the nations most prestigious criterium!

The Don Makes the Finals!

The Locos Cycling Team has already found success at the Twilight weekend. On Friday afternoon, Robert Giannini posted a time in the computrainer qualifiers good enough to take him to the final “Main Event” at night. The Don, being a local, had TONS of support from great Athens fans!! Rob suffered a little bit in the night final due to overheating, but he posted a time good enough to take 6th overall! Check out the video below…..it looks like he’s in a Spin Class:-)) Look for the Locos boys at the FRONT of Twilight tonight. We are looking for great things from the young gun Ty Magner.

The Locos Cycling Team has been a fixture on the podium for the entire start of the season. The last two weeks have been filled with more podiums and more great rides from the Locos boys. In the Chattanooga Georgia Cup the Locos Team had a dominating performance with a 3rd and a 5th in the 85 mile road race (Parker Smith and Robert Giannini). The team finished things off with a stellar sprint victory from Ty Magner in the crit on Sunday.

Last weekend the Team Locos headed to Aniston AL to test their skills against the nations best at the Sunny King Criterium (NRC). Locos was able to put 2 riders into the winning break (Casey and Ty Magner). The break of 14 would eventually lap the field and Ty took out 8th place overall in the sprint (see Cyclingnews for full writeup). Look for Locos to have a man in the break this weekend at Twilight!!!

High School Cycling

Here are some pictures and a short video from the latest high school cycling practice. At the end of the meet we actually rode one lap time trials so all of the high schoolers could test their fitness! We are going to start a record board for the course in the coming week. Casey Magner currently holds the record at 1:30.6 …..lets see if it falls next week!

Tuscaloosa Weekend

Locos‘ Ty Magner took first place on Saturday night in the downtown twilight criterium. He was ushered to the line by a fast charging leadout train from Robert Giannini and Casey Magner. Once the boys dropped Ty off within 300 meters he was untouchable! Locos also stacked the top of the field with 3 in the top 8.

Sunday was a hilly and windy 70 mile road race. Robert Giannini got in the early break from 5 miles in with Frank Travieso and Sebastian. Eventually Ty bridged up to Robert in a small group after Frank had flown the coup solo. The two locos boys then worked over the small group with a one two punch at the finish. Rob attacked on the major hill of the course forcing a chase from behind. After the small group was glued back together Ty was able to smoke everyone in the sprint for hard won second place. Locos also took 4th 8th and 7th on the day.
